On 14 October 2026, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe approved a Recommendation on protecting children from violence through comprehensive and age-appropriate sexuality education, which also has a Explanatory Memorandum.

The document incorporates recommendations to Council of Europe Member States and an annex with Guidelines on the protection of children from violence through age-appropriate and comprehensive sexuality education, which aim to promote the development, design, adoption, provision, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of age-appropriate comprehensive sexuality education that is science-based and respects, protects and guarantees the rights of the child.
